20th Century Warrior: The Return of the USS New Jersey (1999)
This one-hour documentary salutes the return of the USS New Jersey to state waters while paying tribute to all Garden State veterans. The documentary takes viewers on the final and memorable journey of the great ship, as she departs from Washington's Puget Sound, navigates a tight trip through the Panama Canal and arrives home in New Jersey waters. New Jersey veterans bring the ship's history to life with their moving and resplendent tales of combat, service and friendship.
The Hidden Child (2006)
Of the 1,600,000 Jewish children who lived in Europe before World War II, only 100,000 survived the Holocaust. Most were hidden children, shuttered away in attics, cellars, convents or in villages or farms. Maud Dahme, a New Jersey resident and former president of the NJ Board of Education, was among those who were hidden and survived. The Hidden Child, a one-hour high-definition documentary, is Dahme’s own story of courage, hope and bravery in the face of evil and death. Dahme was one of the estimated 3,000 to 8,000 Jewish children in the Netherlands who were hidden and saved from the Nazi death camps by courageous Christians.
Holocaust: Lessons for Life (2000)
Lessons for Life examines how the Holocaust is taught in public schools. Through overseas missions, travels to concentration camps, international exchange programs with teachers and survivors' accounts, the documentary explores the challenges and achievements in teaching this difficult topic. The documentary also includes interviews with Holocaust experts and survivors such as Nobel Peace prize winner and author Elie Wiesel.
Steamin’ Demon: A Rebirth (1996)
The USS Algol, also known as the "Steamin' Demon", built in 1939 as a cargo ship, and refitted in 1941 as a Victory Ship, served the US military spanning several wars, in the Pacific. This program takes you through her military career and use as a thriving underwater marine environment, an artificial reef off the coast of Belmar, NJ. Archival Footage, interviews from shipmates and underwater footage make this program visual and memorable.
Thunderbolts of Millville (2004)
From 1942 to 1945, the Millville Army Air Field trained P-47 pilots, teaching them to fly and attack with their aircraft. The Millville Airport was dedicated “American’s First Defense Airport” on August 2,1941. In less than a year, construction of military base facilities began and, in January 1943, the Millville Army Air Field opened as a gunnery school for fighter pilots. Gunnery training began with Curtiss P-40F Warhawk aircraft, but after a few weeks, the P-40s were gone, and the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt rules the skies over Cumberland County. During its three-year existence, more than 10,000 men and women served there with 1,500 pilots receiving advanced fighter training.
