LYNN KOSEK WALKER

Producer / Writer

Lynn Kosek WalkerLynn Kosek Walker has worked in video production for more than 20 years: at NJN Public Television, the ABC affiliate WPVI-TV6 in Philadelphia, and The New York Times Cable Company. Walker is a three-time Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award winner and has won national and international awards for producing, writing and editing. She has a life-long interest in both history and the natural world and is a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists. She co-produced the award-winning documentary Turning the Tide with Bob Szuter. Walker’s interest in nature led her to create the Emmy nominated documentaries Pine Barrens Journey and Gardens Great & Small. Several of her productions have gone on to air nationally including the documentary, The Race for Open Space, which focused on the impact of sprawl on the environment. This program received a New York Emmy Award and national Cine Golden Eagle for Outstanding Environmental Programming.

In addition to her awards, Walker has earned a total of 19 regional Emmy nominations. She has produced numerous documentaries and specials for NJN on a variety of topics including Reflections of War, Rose’s Melting Pot, Revolutionary Travels and Women Leaders. Walker was the series producer for the travel magazine program Discover New Jersey; a staff producer for the arts magazine show, State of the Arts; and an associate producer on the NJN News documentary Throwaway Pets hosted by Betty White. Currently, Walker is the series producer for NJN Classics which features outstanding programs from the Network’s vast archives.

Producing the documentary Our Vanishing Past is a dream come true for Walker because it takes her back to a favorite subject, New Jersey’s history. Her first field production as a college student focused on the historic village of Smithville in Burlington County. She later received a grant from The Burlington County Cultural and Heritage Commission to produce her first independent documentary Whitesbog: A Century of Innovation, which went on to air on NJN. Her research and field production for Our Vanishing Past has taken her to a variety of places around the state, including Newark, Jersey City, Camden, Wildwood, Cape May, Lambertville, Long Branch, the Edison National Historic Site, Walt Whitman House and the Pine Barrens.

Walker graduated with honors from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism/mass media. She also earned an associate’s degree in communications from Burlington County College where she learned the technical skills of videography, editing and master control.

Walker lives in Eastampton, New Jersey. She is married to Jonathan Walker Ph.D./Ma.D.Sc., who is an internationally recognized Hall of Fame martial artist and CEO of a martial and health care organization. She has two children. Victoria Brown is a junior in high school and Richard Brown is in fifth grade.
