he
only child in a busy, high-achieving, intercultural
household, 12-year-old Neil Sethi is active in music,
Karate, and has been accepted into an advanced math
program at Johns-Hopkins University. His father
is an investment banker, his mother an acclaimed
author and a professor. Neil has never been to his
father's homeland of India where the family is about
to travel. We'll hear Neil's take on being a mixed-race
child in America and how he might "classify" himself. What bearing do education, socio-economic
status, and demands on time have on the family as
a whole? A traditional Indian meal will bring together
extended family from both sides.
