The
First Place to Start - With over
8 million people living in New
Jersey, there are plenty of job
opportunities for the unemployed.
In this episode we visit Work First
New Jersey (WFNJ), a program designed
to move residents from welfare
to work. Participants from a variety
of backgrounds, such as single
parents and victims of domestic
violence are assisted in gaining
full-time employment. We also examine
the variety of other benefits offered
to participants, such as work expenses
and low-income home energy assistance.
Training
and Assistance Go A Long Way -
We meet individuals who have
benefited from a variety of other
programs offered through WFNJ.
Participants have been able to
advance their career and enroll
in training courses due to financial
assistance from Career Advancement
Vouchers and Supplemental Work
Support.
