Helping
Hands
Original airdate: April 26, 2006
Tools
for Special Talent - The One-Stops,
located in each county of New Jersey,
offer those looking for work every
tool needed to land a job. Now all
of these tools are available to people
with disabilities as well. With the
addition of new technologies like
Zoom Text and speech recognition
software, nobody is left out when
it comes to job seeking. We’ll
take a look at these high tech solutions,
along with some other tools that
level the playing field when it comes
to searching for employment. Plus,
we’ll meet a remarkable young
man who carved out a niche as a “waiter
on wheels” with the help of
a little ingenuity. Even though he’s
in a wheelchair, that hasn’t
kept Danny DiMarco from his daily
rounds delivering food at the Quakerbridge
Mall.
Hands-On
Learning - Going to college is
a challenge all by itself. You
have to adapt to the new lifestyle,
make new friends, and adjust to the
increase in workload from high school
among other things. It's usually,
a difficult transition for anyone
to make. But imagine if you have
a handicap while you try to make
these adjustments. Imagine if you
can't hear. We take you inside a
college that has a special program
to help individuals who are deaf.
Join us as we travel down to Camden
County College in Blackwood and see
how this program works and how it
helps these students.
Career
Minute - Audiologists
In this week’s career minute,

whether it's gradual or sudden. When
people have trouble with hearing
or balance, they see an audiologist.
