Latinos & Diabetes: A Statewide Concern (3512)
Diabetes knows no nationality. It affects everyone. For latinos, diabetes is a dreaded disease spreading rapidly across every economic segment of the population. Presently, it is the sixth leading cause of death among hispanics/latinos in the United States and the fourth leading cause of death among hispanic women and elderly. The State of New Jersey wants to educate the hispanic community on prevention, living with diabetes and managing a healthier life style. National health specials will appear on this program to offer advice and promote a diabetes summit for latinos to take place at Rutgers University - Busch Campus on March 19, 2008.
