Addiction, overdose, drug abuse – they are an unfortunate fact of life for too many teens. But is testing them in school a fair and effective way to fight the problem? On this edition of Due Process, the case for and against random drug testing in New Jersey high schools. The U.S. and State Supreme Courts have both said it is legal. Then why have only 23 of 300 New Jersey high schools opted into the program? Sandra King reports from the field, while Raymond Brown explores the teen testing controversy with studio guests Hunterdon Central Superintendent Dr. Lisa Brady, J.C. Salyer, an attorney who argued the case against testing on behalf of the ACLU, and Dr. Wayne Yankus, representing the American Academy of Pediatrics.
