Show 4School Evolves – Celebrate the 300th episode of Classroom Close-up, NJ by visiting an elementary school in East Orange that was featured during the very first season.  Back then, it was a French language immersion school, but as the needs of the community evolved, the community itself became a big part of what drives Ecole Toussaint Louverture.

Where Are They Now? – Classroom Close-up, NJ is celebrating its 300th episode by visiting former teachers and students who appeared on the show over the past 15 years.  Among the favorites are fashion designer Anthony Mark Hankins, children’s book author Lisa Funari Willever, and astronaut Mark Polanski, who was the commander on a shuttle mission this past summer.

GLOBE – More than 15 years ago, John Moore, an environmental educator from Burlington County Institute of Technology, dreamed that his students might be part of the GLOBE program.  Today that dream is a reality.  GLOBE is Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment. This is a worldwide, hands-on, primary and secondary school-based science and education program. John’s students work in close partnership with NASA and NSF Earth System Science Projects to research the dynamics of Earth’s environment.  For more information about GLOBE, go to www.globe.gov.

Gabriel Project – For the past 20 years, Mark Melamed and his students at Veterans Memorial Intermediate School in Vineland have participated in a fundraiser called the Gabriel Project. The students raise money to bring children from other countries to New Jersey for life-saving heart surgeries. See how the program has expanded and impacted the lives of hundreds of students.
