Blood Drive - Clifton High School Students run the annual Clifton DECA/Daniel Magaster Memorial Blood Drive. The DECA club sponsors this event and the students participate in every aspect -- from marketing to public speaking. Hundreds of students donate blood and sign up for a bone marrow registry and learn first hand the importance of giving back to those in need.
Journeys – Third graders at Harrison School in Roselle learn about the Native American Trail of Tears, the Underground Railroad, and the history of European migration at the turn of the century. Applying their new knowledge, students research their own families’ journey to the United States through interviews and photographs and learn to retell stories from their native country. This program was funded by an NEA Foundation Grant.
Construction Industry Career Day – Students from Holmdel High School join nearly 1,500 other students for Construction Industry Career Day held at Brookdale Community College. Professionals in the industry ranging from carpentry to plumbers share career opportunities with New Jersey’s middle and high school students.
Galapagos – Linda Strauss from Hunterdon Central High School in Flemington is one of 20 teachers selected by the Toyota’s International Teacher Program. She went on a 10-day tour of the Galapagos Islands to learn more about the ecosystem for her AP biology class.
