Beauty and the Beast – Special education students from Regional Day School in Jackson learn all kinds of skills by putting on the play Beauty and the Beast. They use arts and crafts to produce the props and scenery. The speech therapist works with the students on their language skills while the occupational therapist uses stage theatrics to enhance their movement skills.
Ben Franklin’s 300th Birthday – Eighth graders at Ramapo Ridge Middle School celebrate Ben Franklin's 300th birthday. Combining language arts, social studies and science, the students display his inventions, write about his life, and research his history and contributions to American politics.
Electronic Dictionary – An NJEA Frederick L Hipp Grant pays for a Franklin Electronic Dictionary for every hearing-impaired or deaf student enrolled in S.H.I.P. (Secondary Hearing Impaired Program). The electronic dictionary helps students independently attack their vocabulary deficiencies and improve their reading, vocabulary and concept comprehension.
C.A.R.S. – Careers in Automotive Repair and Service is a program for automotive technology students at Hunterdon County Polytech High School. The students participate in a week-long mentorship at several car dealerships.
