Books
in the Park
Many immigrant families are uncomfortable or
unable to visit the local library in the summer. So
Pat Quinteros, a teacher at Pine Grove Manor School
in Somerset, came up with an idea to bring the library
to the families. Thanks to a grant from the NJEA Frederick
L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence in Education, a lending
library was set up in a local park.
Misunderstood
Minds - Menlo Park Terrace School in Wood-bridge
is successfully using methods of recognizing, understanding
and managing differences in learning. The strategies
help children in the areas of concentration, memory,
language, time management, motor abilities and social
interaction. The framework is based on scientific research
and is built on the belief that all children can learn
and succeed based on a better understanding of their
own strengths and weaknesses. For more information,
