Tools
of the Mind - Imagine a pre-k/kindergarten school
located in a converted bank building in Passaic with
the playground located on the top level of the garage!
Not your typical school. Passaic School #16 also uses
a program called "Tools of the Mind". It fosters
the cognitive development of young children in relation
to early literacy learning. The project is the result
of collaborative work between Russian and American education
researchers.
Community
Colleges - Bergen Community College in Paramus and
Hackensack is one of 19 Community Colleges in New Jersey
that serve over 120,000 students each year. The college
students either go directly into rewarding careers in
hundreds of fields, or they are given a solid foundation
for a four-year degree at a college or university.
Dance
Works - The Morris County School of Technology offers
three academies; one is the Academy for Visual and Performing
Arts which is housed at the Boonton High School campus.
Randy James, a guest artist through a NJ State Council
on the Arts Artist-In-Education grant, will teach students
the art and craft of choreography, and professional
repertory from his company Randy James Dance Works.

Teacher
of the Year - As an active parent in her son's school,
Diane Cummins was inspired to return to school to become
a teacher. Twenty years later she is not only the head
of the English Department at Clearview Regional School
District in Gloucester County, she is also New Jersey's
Teacher of the Year. Committed to teaching the basics,
Cummins never forgets to educate the whole child, with
an emphasis on compassion.
