Show #317
Special
Needs - Teachers dealing with students who have
special needs face additional challenges in the classroom.
We'll see how teachers at Park School in Prospect Park
meet those challenges with a smile and lots of compassion.
Cookie
Project - Fourth graders at Hilldale School in Montville
combine math, creative thinking, oral speaking, writing,
art and home ec. They create their own cookie company
from the ground up. First they select the type of cookie.
Then they make and market and advertise it, creating
everything from the cost to the commercial jingle.
Teasing
& Bullying - Bullying is the most common form
of violence in our society according to the National
Association of School Psychologists. In response, the
NJ State Bar Foundation created a program on conflict
resolution. Educators at Robert Frost Elementary in
East Brunswick have been using this program and have
seen positive results.
Read
Across America - Governor James McGreevey promotes
his Book Club (www.nj.gov/bookclub)
and joins the New Jersey Education Association in celebrating
Read Across America. Both programs promote the importance
of reading.
