Liberty
Hall - The past comes alive for the students from
Livingston Elementary School in Union. They will visit
Liberty Hall, which was home to the prominent Livingston
and Kean families.
Butterfly
Workshop - The Educational Information and Resource
Center trains teachers to raise monarch butterflies
in their classroom and use them as a teaching tool.
Erik Mollenhauer of ERIC will also discuss the trips
that are available for teachers to visit the sanctuaries
in Mexico.
Butterflies
in the Classroom - Luella Vengenock attended one
of the EIRC workshops and took her lessons into the
second grade classroom at Alloway Township School. The
children raised the monarchs and will release them followed
by a special parade for the community.
Seeing
Eye - Franklin Elementary (Newark) students learn
what it's like to be blind and dependant on a Seeing
Eye dog. Thanks to a grant from the Health Care Foundation
of New Jersey, an instructor from The Seeing Eye brings
a dog and a blind person into the public schools to
teach young children about life without sight.
