KICS
- More than 500 grade school students from Salem County
attend an annual Kids' Inquiry Conference. High school
students volunteer as moderators and guides during this
day-long science conference. The students demonstrate
their own science projects and then sit back and enjoy
glassblowing and robotic presentations from college
professors.
Native
American Art - Students from Oldmans School in Pedricktown
are learning all about the Native American Indian culture.
The students created their own Indian art, and enjoyed
a dance performance by the Lenni Lenape Indians. This
project is funded by a McDonald Grant.
MARE
- The entire school of Oxycocus Elementary in Manahawkin
transforms into a giant ocean during the Marine Activities
Resources and Education celebration. From jelly fish
to turtles, the students become part of the ocean and
perform songs, dances and readings for their parents
and guests.
New
Jersey Reads - Realizing the value of an educated
workforce, Verizon has created and invested money and
staff to a program called New Jersey Reads. This literacy
project gives Verizon customers a chance to contribute,
and Verizon staff a chance to volunteer to this worthwhile
community program.
