Show
# 219
Puppet
Show - Terri Graham, an art teacher from Bayonne
High School, was awarded one of twelve Disney American
Teacher Awards. Humbled by the honor, she prefers to
focus on the incredible work that her students produce,
which includes an interdisciplinary puppet show. Her
art students design and create the puppets, while English
students write the script, and language students perform
the play in German.
Project
Positive Choice - Educators at Copeland Middle School
in Rockaway Township are dealing head on with the increasing
problem of drug overdoses in their community. The school
has several anti-drug events, including a visit by residents
of a drug treatment program who share how drugs have
impacted their young lives.
Hope
& Healing - With all the violence in the world,
counselors at the elementary level are teaching students
how to deal with anger, forgiveness and peace. We'll
visit Conerly Road School in Franklin Township and see
how counselor Virginia Abu Bakr uses principles from
a book on Hope and Healing by Naomi Drew to create a
more peaceful school and home environment.
Video
Conferencing - Judd Elementary students in North
Brunswick conduct lessons on performing arts while students
at Wilentz School in Perth Amboy participate in the
class through the magic of videoconferencing. This project
brings students from different schools and communities
together through technology.
