Chester
Science Fair - Students from Black River Middle
School in Chester will be competing in a Science Fair.
This project instills a love of science while involving
the community in exciting and educational competition.
Math-a-thon
- Roosevelt School in Elizabeth is combining the love
of math with community service through a program called
Math-a-thon. The students obtain sponsors who donate
money for every math problem that is solved, and the
proceeds go to the St. Jude's Research Hospital.
Negative
to Positive - Students at Grandview School in Piscataway
Township learn about the world of photography through
a program called From Negative to Positive. This project
brings professional photographers into the school to
share the tricks of their trade. The students will produce
a book filled with their photographs and writing. This
program is funded through the NJEA Frederick L. Hipp
Foundation for Excellence in Education.
Video
ID - Parents and teachers at Central Elementary
School in Keyport are having the high school students
visit their school to videotape their children for purposes
of identification in cases of missing or abducted children.
This project, called Video Identification of Children
(VIC), has also been expanded for senior citizens who
suffer from Alzheimer's.
