Poem
Party - Fourth and fifth graders at Berkeley Terrace
School in Irvington are combining their lessons on poetry
with their lessons on drug awareness. During a poem
party, the students will focus their topics on healthy
living and a campaign against drug abuse.
Volunteer
Club - Students at Jonathan Dayton High School in
Springfield have learned the rewards of volunteering.
Their biggest success over the years has been their
work with local senior citizens. Each year the students
host a breakfast for the seniors with the help of donations
from local businesses, and speakers on topics of interest
to the seniors.
Student Teacher - Nichole
Bowman was a star athlete in Camden, but she decided
to dedicate her life to teaching and giving back to
her community. Bowman returned to Davis Elementary where
she is completing her student teaching!
Exploring
Our World Students at Forest Avenue School
in Glen Ridge have discovered the joy of hands-on science.
Teachers use science kits to help students learn by
working with experiments geared for individual grade
levels. This program is funded through a grant from
the NJEA Frederick L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence
in Education.
