A Reading Odyssey - Students at Shady Lane Elementary
School in Deptford Township are awaiting the arrival
of an alien spaceship. This is a multi-discipline project
hosted by Mobile productions and includes a Star Lab
Planetarium. This program is funded through an NJEA
Frederick L. Hipp Grant for Excellence in Education.

Gear Up - If you wait until high school to start
preparing for college you may be too late. That is why
students at Janis E. Dismus Middle School in Englewood
are getting a head start. A five-year program involving
partners from Bergen Community College, the public school
system, plus educational and community groups is designed
to help more students attend and succeed in college.
Diversity
Bus - Livingston, NJ is the first stop on a 23-state
tour for a bus that is designed to break down the barriers
of prejudice and bias. The students at Heritage Middle
school will paint the bus with their own messages about
diversity and contribute artifacts from their school.
Rutger's
Challenge - Rutgers Academic Challenge is a series
of interscholastic competitions designed to engage New
Jersey's brightest young minds. Over 100 schools are
participating in competitions with topics ranging from
math to critical thinking, science and technology to
history and literature.
