2000-2001 season

Show #101:

Teen Arts Festival – Students from across the state display their artwork to be critiqued by famous artists. Students also perform plays, musical numbers and dance arrangements at the New Jersey Teen Arts Festival.

ESP of the Year – Richie Malizia, a school attendance officer from Union City, received the prestigious National Education Association Outstanding Educational Support Personnel (ESP) for the Year 2000. This national recognition was given in part for his efforts to keep kids in school through the use of a school team that identifies problems early, before the child drops out of school.

Classes in Grasses – Special education students at Pineland Regional Middle School in Tuckerton take on the role of adviser to regular education students while creating classroom gardens. This program is funded through the NJEA Frederick L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence in Education.

Camden Challenge – The State Supreme Court ordered the state to pay additional money for poor urban schools. But before the state provides the money, it requires schools to create a plan on how the money will be spent. Camden High School has a site-based management team consisting of students, parents and school personnel. This team is working hard to make sure the money is put to good use.
