Women
in Sports
21st Century (1423)
1)
C. Vivian Stringer is the Coach of Rutgers Women's
Basketball. Although she's built a reputation
for herself, there's more to Stringer than her
courtside manner. She discusses the successes
of women in basketball and how she doesn't settle
for less. She wants the best for all of her players
and is not only concerned with their basketball
achievements, but also their academic achievements
as well. Coach Stringer also discusses how serious
basketball is to her and how she also tries to
manage between being a hard-driven coach and showing
she cares. But her biggest struggle of all is
the time management between family and basketball,
as she is also a single mother raising two teenage
sons and a special needs daughter. 2) Attorney
and Professional boxer Jacquelyn Frazier joins
us in the studio to talk about women in boxing.
She discusses her upcoming boxing match with Laila
Ali and its comparison to the historical match
between their fathers. Jacqui talks about her
love of boxing as a sport rather than just entertainment
and winning. She also gives a brief background
of her life and sports, being a lawyer, playing
basketball and other sports in High School. A
video clip to show her boxing is also included.
