Summer
Academic Camps (1401)
While
many were enjoying amusement parks, family trips,
camping, swimming and other things, some NJ students
spent 4 and 5 weeks of their summer in a place
you'd least expect
a classroom. 1) The New
Jersey SEEDS program is designed to give gifted
and talented 7th and 8th graders, who are financially
disadvantaged, the opportunity to attend some
of the most competitive private high schools on
the East Coast. 2) Studies show that girls are
less likely to pursue high-paying jobs in the
technology field, but one South Jersey program
has girls eager to get acquainted with the male
dominated field of science and technology. The
Sr. FEMME program teaches middle school girls
basics of computer components and terminology,
hardware, programming language, and how to make
web pages.
