Lidia’s Italy celebrates the land Lidia Bastianich calls home. In her new series, one of America’s best-known and best-loved Italian chefs prepares regional Italian dishes with a new twist – this season Lidia takes viewers on a gastronomic tour of Italy where she explores various regions, and prepares and tastes delectable dishes with her Italian family and friends. Lidia journeys throughout Italy sampling and preparing local specialties from Rome, Naples, Padua, Sicily, Trieste and Istria. Each segment features footage of Lidia in Italy as well as two to three recipes for the home cook based on recipes Lidia tastes and perfects during her travels and demonstrates in her own familiar home kitchen.
Throughout the series, friends and family join Lidia in the kitchen. Her daughter Tanya introduces some of Lidia's favorite hidden cultural treasures, while her son Joseph frequently stops by to discuss regional wines.
This is not just a new season of Italian cooking with Lidia, this is an unfolding love story where the viewers see Lidia in her element – choosing fresh fish directly from local fishermen, digging for truffles in the soil of her ancestors, and choosing ripe red tomatoes form the volcanic soil of Mount Vesuvius. This not just Italy – this Lidia’s Italy.
One of public television’s stars, Lidia has been part of the PBS family since 1998 when her first series, Lidia’s Italian Table, was broadcast. This was followed by Lidia’s Italian-American Kitchen and Lidia’s Family Table. Her most recent series, Lidia’s Italy, invites you to travel with Lidia to Italy as she visits her favorite places and prepares delectable dishes with her Italian family and friends. Each episode features footage of Lidia in Italy, demonstrations in her kitchen, and several spectacular recipes for the home cook.
