Republican Senate Debate

NJN will air two live one-hour debates this month. The one-hour debates will be simulcast on NJN Public Radio and will be web cast and archived at njn.net. Kent Manahan, NJN News anchor, will moderate both debates, which will have identical formats. A panel of reporters will question the candidates. The debates will be rebroadcast at a later date.

The Republican Senate Debate featured all three candidates participating. The candidates running in the Republican primary race are Murray Sabrin, Dick Zimmer and NJ Senator Joseph Pennacchio.

The Democratic Senate Debate featured all three Democratic primary candidates have accepted: US Senator Frank Lautenberg, US Representative Rob Andrews and Morristown Mayor Donald Cresitello.

The debates are cosponsored by NJN Public Television & Radio, the Philadelphia Inquirer and Gannett NJ Newspaper Group. There will be three journalists on the panel, one from each organization.
