Technology Requirements

How about my school?

Why not? There are just a few requirements for receiving the Digital Classroom. The first is to understand that Digital Classroom is a school district initiative. NJN partners with school districts to deliver Digital Classroom to every school in that district. NJN supplies the necessary hardware to the district to be able to house the content locally. That means fewer bottlenecks and faster response! The equipment consists of a server and an antenna connected to the server. The antenna will most likely be located on the roof of a building and connected to the server through a cable. There is a cost associated with the equipment and its installation, as well as a yearly maintenance fee based on the number of schools in the district.

The district needs to supply the proper amount of usable bandwidth from the server location to the schools within the district. If this connection is adequate, you’re in business!

Digital Classroom offers five libraries at the moment. Four of them are available at no charge and one, unitedstreaming, is a subscription library. Schools need not subscribe to unitedstreaming to receive the other benefits of Digital Classroom.
