George A. Gregowske

Drafted before Pearl Harbor, T3 Gregowske served beginning October 24, 1941. He was interested in chemistry. The induction officer told him that "everyone wants chemistry so they can stay at home. What are your hobbies?" George replied, "Photography."

He trained at Fort Monmouth and stayed in the US making training films for about 2 years. He was then sent overseas, to the Southeast Asia Command (China, Burma, India).
He was wounded while taking photos in a combat zone and landed in a hospital. He told of a nurse who treated his knee wound with a flax poultice instead of the sulfa powder ordered by the doctors. The nurse found out that George was allergic to sulfa. After his hospitalization he was returned to active duty, where he served until October 16, 1945
