Tips for designing student-friendly websites
As a part of this workshop, we asked students to evaluate the websites they visited. Based on their feedback, we’ve compiled a few tips for making websites more attractive to high-school students. 1) Use plenty of art and graphics to attract students. You may want to use a graphic instead of text as a link to the next web page. 2) Break up dense material into smaller chunks; intersperse it with relevant art and graphics. 3) Update your website frequently. Remember that students are on the cutting edge of culture. By including information or issues that relate to current events, the more likely they are to see the website as relevant and reliable. 4) Be aware that most schools and public libraries use Internet filters. Make sure that the material on your website is context- and age-appropriate so that all students can access it. |
