New Trustees Appointed to the Foundation for New Jersey Public Broadcasting

STATEWIDE – On June 30, 2009, the Foundation for New Jersey Public Broadcasting, Inc. appointed four new trustees to the Foundation for New Jersey Public Broadcasting, the fundraising arm of NJN Public Television and Radio.  The new trustees are: Bernard M. Flynn, Gwendolyn L Harris, Sandra J. May, and Tricia Russo.

NJN is New Jersey’s public broadcasting network and the only statewide television broadcast network to reach every New Jersey television household.

Bernard M. Flynn
Bernard Flynn currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group (NJM), in West Trenton, New Jersey.  New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group is New Jersey-based and provides Workers’ Compensation policies, private passenger vehicle and commercial automobile and residential insurance coverages. A graduate of Fordham University, Mr. Flynn earned his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law, Camden. He also earned the designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).  Prior to starting his career at New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group, Mr. Flynn was a Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Law, Department of Law and Public Safety representing the Department of Insurance and the Department of Transportation.  Mr. Flynn is a resident of Delran, New Jersey.

Gwendolyn L Harris
Gwendolyn Harris is an associate research director for the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs located at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in Camden, New Jersey.  Ms. Harris has an extensive career in human services and public administration, highlighted by founding Newark Emergency Services of Families, Inc., several years ago, as well as serving as the City of Trenton’s director of health and human services, business administrator, chief of staff and also as commissioner of human services for the State of New Jersey.  Ms. Harris holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and a Masters from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration.  She is currently a doctoral candidate in Urban Planning and Policy at Rutgers University. Ms. Harris serves on the Board of Trustees of Mercer County Community College, is a board member and treasurer of New Jersey Public Policy Research Institute and a member and officer of the Central New Jersey Chapter of the Links, Incorporated. “Gwendy,” as she likes to be called, resides in Trenton with her husband, Jerome.

Sandra J. May
Appointed at the Board’s June 24th meeting, Sandra May is the senior media representative for Atlantic City Electric where she serves as the company’s liaison with the media across southern New Jersey.  Atlantic City Electric is a regulated utility serving more than 545,000 customers in Southern New Jersey.  Prior to joining Atlantic City Electric, she was a senior engineer and business analyst in information technology for PECO Energy Company in Philadelphia.  Ms. May holds a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University; a Master degree in Engineering and a Project Management Certificate from Penn State University.   Ms. May is a resident of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.

Tricia Russo
Tricia Russo is the vice president of government affairs of ADP TotalSource in Princeton, NJ.  Most recently, Ms. Russo was the eastern director, state government affairs for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.   Prior to joining Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, she served as legislative counsel for Nancy H. Becker Associates.  A graduate of Boston College, Ms. Russo earned a Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University School of Law.  Ms. Russo resides in Princeton, New Jersey.

The NJN Foundation is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, whose mission is to advance the goals of NJN Public Television and Radio.  The Foundation Board is composed of 40 Trustees, representing the State’s key business and community leaders.
