NJN News Reporter Jerry Henry
Receives Ed Bradley Journalism Award
Trenton, NJ – NJN News reporter Jerry Henry recently received the Ed Bradley Journalism Award from Trenton’s Martin House Learning Center at its eleventh annual Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. program on Saturday, January 13. Henry received the award for his “valuable contribution to the community in New Jersey during the past years and [his] continued vigor to make a difference in the lives of people today.”
Henry has been a member of the award-winning NJN News team since 1987. He began his television career in 1980 following his discharge from the Marine Corps, where he received a broad education in the art and science of communication. His early broadcast experiences took him to South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee, before ultimately bringing him to New Jersey and NJN. Henry began his tenure with NJN as the station’s sports reporter, winning the Associated Press First Place Award for his sports reporting in 1993. Henry was also a part of the Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award-winning team for the NJN series New Jersey Personalities in the early 1990’s.
Most recently Henry has been working on a series of stories for NJN News that examines the growing problem of gang violence in Trenton and the surrounding communities. The focus is on the response by law enforcement and community agencies to address the issue and includes conversations with the Regional Violent Crime Interdiction Task Force, the Trenton Police Department, and area civic leaders.
Jerry Henry can be seen regularly on NJN News, broadcast weeknights on NJN Public Television & Radio at 6 pm, 7:30 pm and 11 pm. The program is also web cast simultaneously at njn.net.
NJN is available on all New Jersey cable systems, satellite systems, and Time Warner Cable channel 750 in NYC.
The half-hour program is also available via video streaming at njn.net after the original broadcast.
