NJN Public Television Brings Home Two Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards

Trenton, NJ – NJN Public Television and Radio received two Mid-Atlantic Emmys at the annual Emmy Awards ceremony held on September 9 at the Philadelphia Marriott. Nominated for 19 Emmy’s in categories as varied as Education/Schools Program, Community Service, Interview Discussion Series to name a few, NJN took home Emmys in the Arts Program or Special category for Reflections of a Bayshore Painter; and in the Magazine Program or Special category for State of the Arts: Tools of the Trade.

Reflections of a Bayshore Painter is a half-hour NJN special featuring artist Glenn Rudderow whose exquisite paintings are inspired by the lighting and landscapes of South Jersey. The program was co-produced by Jane Morton Galetto of Millville, NJ, President, Citizens United to Protect the Maurice River and Its Tributaries, Inc., and Louis Presti of Newtown, PA, NJN Senior Producer and Director of Cinematography, with Jeff Reisly of Morrisville, PA as Associate Producer and Avid Editor. All three received an Emmy for their work on this outstanding special. State of the Arts: Tools of the Trade garnered Emmys for the program’s producer Eric Schultz of Trenton, NJ, and associate producer Christopher Benincasa of Stockton, NJ. State of the Arts, NJN’s half-hour weekly arts magazine program, aims to bring greater awareness of the cultural scene in and around New Jersey to its viewers. In this award-winning edition titled Tools of the Trade, viewers hear a piano from Mozart’s time, see marionettes in action, learn how art can be made from words, and visit a factory that makes pencils. State of the Arts airs on NJN Fridays at 8:30 pm and is rebroadcast on Wednesdays at 11:30 pm. The program features writers, dancers, architects, musicians and artists; major names are found on every show, but emerging artists are given equal time and consideration. State of the Arts is co-produced by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Additional funding is provided by the Geraldine Dodge Foundation.

The regional Emmy Awards, in their 24th year, recognize excellence in news programming and individual achievement in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. The awards are sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
