BACKGROUND: Chris Botti is a gifted instrumentalist, a talented composer, and a charismatic performer who – since the release of his first solo album in 1995 – has created a series of recordings that have made him a virtual genre-of-one in the realm of contemporary jazz. Through his singular combination of lush atmospheres and thoughtful improvisations, Botti has earned both critical acclaim and mainstream appreciation. After debuting at #1 on the Traditional Jazz Album sales chart, Botti’s CD, When I Fall In Love, went on to earn him a Gold Record with 500,000 copies sold. He received a 2006 Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists for What Are You Doing for the Rest of Your Life? That song is on Botti's latest CD, To Love Again, which features Botti in duets with nine vocalists including Sting, Gladys Knight, Michael Bublé, Steven Tyler and others. Botti visited NJN’s Trenton studios in June when he hosted live fundraising breaks during the NJN airing of Chris Botti Live with Orchestra & Special Guests.
