Another View Explores the Myth of the Failing Black Family

Trenton – NJN Public Television’s award-winning program Another View explores the changes in the black family structure and looks at how black families are surviving and thriving in A Black Family Portrait on NJN Tuesday, November 21 at 6:30 pm and Friday, November 24 at 11:30 pm. Hosted by Candace Kelley, Another View profiles couples who share how they have maintained successful and affirming family units. The half-hour program also discusses the most prevalent issues tearing black couples apart and offers solutions to the economic and social challenges often facing today’s black family. Guests include Linzie and Louise Coles, married for 63 years and parents of Linda Coles, Executive Producer of Another View; Solomon and Laveta Jones; psychologist and author Dr. Patricia Reid Merritt; and, family and couples counselor Reverend Niki Brown.

Another View airs on NJN the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm and is rebroadcast the following Friday at 11:30 pm. The program reflects the needs, concerns, and interests of New Jersey’s African-American community and communicates important information about current events and issues from an African-American perspective. Since its inception nineteen years ago, Another View has played a vital role in fulfilling NJN’s commitment to providing New Jersey’s diverse population with quality programs and services that educate, inspire, inform and enlighten.
