Images/Imagenes Celebrates Latino Culture

Trenton – Award-winning series Images/Imagenes on NJN Public Television examines the issues, trends, and concerns important to the Latino community with in-depth studio interviews with community leaders and field pieces from New Jersey and beyond. The series celebrates Latino culture with features on music, dance, and art. . The half-hour program airs on NJN Thursdays at 6:30 pm and Sundays at 8:00 am. This month Images/Imagenes takes a look at La Casa de Don Pedro, a community agency in Newark working to break the cycle of poverty; visits with former winners of the NJN Hispanic Youth Showcase; and celebrates the season with music, poetry, and the inspiring success stories of some young, up-and-coming Latino talents. Also this month, the 2006 NJN Hispanic Youth Showcase will air on NJN Saturday, December 16 at 4:00 pm.

A look at a community agency changing the lives of Latino families. La Casa de Don Pedro in Newark fosters self-sufficiency in low and moderate income families to help them break the cycle of poverty. It works to find homes for the homeless, free day care for the poor, and job opportunities for the unemployed.

Thursday, December 14 at 6:30 pm and Sunday, December 17 at 8:00 am
They are teachers, journalists, performers, soldiers, corporate executives, and community leaders – and they are all connected by the NJN Hispanic Youth Showcase. Images/Imagenes brings back the former stars of the showcase, relives their wonderful moments on stage, and looks at where they are now.
