Remembering Our Military Families with When Parents Are Deployed on NJN
Airing Wednesday, January 3 at 6:30 pm and Thursday, January 4 at 11:30 pm

Trenton, NJ – This holiday season, when many families across the state and the nation are separated by military deployment, NJN Public Television is pleased to present When Parents Are Deployed on Wednesday, January 3 at 6:30 pm and again on Thursday, January 4 at 11:30 pm. This special program, hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Cuba Gooding, Jr., is a behind-the-scenes look at an extraordinary effort by the producers of Sesame Street to help the approximately 700,000 children under the age of five who are waiting for a deployed mother or father to come home.

In examining the effects of deployment on young American military families, the producers of When Parents Are Deployed uncover touching stories of courage, hope and pride. Candid and intimate moments with the parents, caregivers, and children affected by deployment give voice to how these families cope with the daily stresses and fears associated with having a parent depart for military duty and how they deal with that parent when they return home. When Parents Are Deployed is full of valuable information for parents in the military and for those who care about them. The program is closed captioned.

In addition to airing When Parents are Deployed, NJN also supports our local military families by continuing its tradition of broadcasting personal greetings from New Jersey’s men and women who are abroad in service of our country this holiday season.
