Trenton, NJ – The heartwarming family movie, Mr. Christmas, comes to NJN Public Television for the holidays. Winner of the “Best Feature Film for Kids” award at the Hollywood Moondance Film Festival and the “Award of Excellence” from the Film Advisory Board in Los Angeles, Mr. Christmas will air on NJN on Friday, December 16 at midnight; Thursday, December 21 at 5:00 pm; Saturday, December 23 at 3:00 pm; and Sunday, December 24 at 9:00 pm.
Mr. Christmas, from Luminous Films, has received a “G” rating from the MPAA and is perfect for the entire family. Written, produced and directed by Beth Brickell, a former actress who starred opposite Dennis Weaver in the popular CBS television series Gentle Ben, Mr. Christmas stars Jace McLean, Jen Celene Little, Ireland Rose Maddox, and Abigail Kinslow. The story is set in 1941, and is about a young father, Joel, who can’t afford to buy his five-year-old daughter the bicycle she’s expecting from Santa Claus. The dilemma creates a crisis of confidence for Joel as a father, husband and family breadwinner. The story is about the true meaning of Christmas and family – that both are about love and not material gifts.
FamilyLife Today calls the film, “A warm, family film that parents and children will enjoy together,” and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette says it is “a true gift.” Library Journal, School Library Journal, and American Library Association’s Booklist have all given it rave reviews for quality family entertainment predicting that the movie “will be a holiday classic.”
Mr. Christmas will be released nationally on DVD during the holiday season and can be found in the seasonal section of retail stores and online web sites.
NJN will broadcast a variety of holiday programs throughout the month of December including Andre Rieu: Christmas Around the World; The Snow Queen; A Chanukah Celebration; Once Upon a Christmas Cherry in the Lab of Shakhashiri 2006; The Holiday Table with Chris Fennimore and DeDe Wilson; Tradición: A Holiday Celebration; O Christmas Tree; Tim Janis: The American Christmas Carol; Tonic Sol-Fa Christmas; holiday editions of NJN’s Images/Imagenes; and more.
