Images/Imagenes: Domestic Violence: America’s Best Kept Secret
Thursday, January 25 at 6:30 pm and Sunday, January 28 at 8:00 am

According to the latest statistics, one out of three women is a victim of domestic violence. In 2006, 300 women, some of them dressed in white wedding gowns drenched with simulated blood, marched down the streets of New York to heighten awareness of the epidemic of violence hidden behind walls of silence. In this Images/Imagenes special, New York Yankees manager Joe Torre talks about his childhood memories as a gifted athlete with no outlet for the emotional scarring from what he calls “America’s best kept secret.” Expanding on the Joe Torre story, the program examines the dynamics of domestic violence, and features innovative ideas from Verizon Wireless to help the victims of domestic violence in the workplace.

Images/Imagenes airs on NJN weekly, Thursdays at 6:30 pm and Sundays at 8:00 am. The half-hour program is web cast at njn.net and can be seen on NJN’s JerseyVision and on Time Warner Cable on channel 750 in New York. Closed-captioning is provided.
