Tuesday, December 19 at 6:30 pm and Friday, December 22 at 11:30 pm
Trenton, NJ – This month on NJN Public Television, the award-winning African-American public affairs program Another View examines the black American entrepreneur. Black Americans are becoming entrepreneurs at a rapidly increasing rate, but many businesses are unable to keep their doors open for more than a few years. Hosted by Candace Kelley, this edition of Another View, titled From Barbershops to Bakeries, explores what blacks must consider when starting a new business to avoid having to close their doors only a few years into their venture. From the changing economy to changing neighborhoods, the issues that black businesses face today continue to vary. The program includes a discussion of what businesses can do to stay afloat and looks at what the pitfalls are facing most businesses today. Guests include Charmaine, “Cake Diva” Jones, cake creator and entrepreneur; Jasper and Kameesha Saunders, co-owners of A Nu U Barbershop & Hair Salon in Trenton, New Jersey; and Joseph Campbell, president and founder of blacknj.com, the largest networking venue for black businesses in the tri-state area.
Another View airs on NJN the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm and is rebroadcast the following Friday at 11:30 pm. The program reflects the needs, concerns, and interests of New Jersey’s African-American community and communicates important information about current events and issues from an African-American perspective. Since its inception nineteen years ago, Another View has played a vital role in fulfilling NJN’s commitment to providing New Jersey’s diverse population with quality programs and services that educate, inspire, inform and enlighten.
