Sunday, NJN senior political correspondent Michael Aron hosts On the Record: The Wit and
Wisdom of Brendan Byrne. This On the Record special
highlights the clever and sharp humor of former Governor Brendan
Byrne who has been delighting his audiences for years with his
wry comments about life and politics in the Garden State , earning
himself the reputation as the best after-dinner speaker at New
Jersey events. On the Record has captured three of his
recent speaking engagements along with his remarks at his 80
th birthday party at Drumthwacket in 2004. Brendan Byrne served
as New Jersey governor from 1974 to 1982. Byrne was born in Orange
, New Jersey , on April 1, 1924 . The program a irs Sunday, November

“I would like to be buried in Hudson County so I can
remain active in politics,” kids Byrne. On another occasion
he says, “I was at a cocktail party a little while ago
and somebody stuck a microphone in my face and asked me what
my talent is. For fifty years I’ve been getting away without
talent. Why do they start asking me now?”
