STATEWIDE – This month Images/Imagenes treats viewers to the artistic endeavors of the Hispanic community. For over three decades, Images/Imagenes has examined the critical issues of New Jersey’s Hispanic population. Images/Imagenes can be seen on Thursdays at 6:30 pm and Sundays at 8 am, and is web streamed and archived on the NJN web site at njn.net. The program can be seen on cable stations throughout New Jersey, on NJN’s JerseyVision and on Time Warner Cable on channel 750 in New York.

MARCO RIZO: THE LEGEND
Thursday, December 1, at 6:30 pm; rebroadcast Sunday, December 4, at 8 am

Marco Rizo: The Legend pays tribute to an icon of Latin jazz and classical music, Marco Rizo. Along with good friend Desi Arnaz, Rizo toured the United States, successfully attracting audiences to Cuban music. As the music director of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra, Rizo gained international fame and often appeared in speaking roles on the I Love Lucy Show. Rizo also worked with Images/Imagenes as a special guest for 15 years, and nine years as a judge for the NJN Hispanic Youth Showcase. A scholarship in his honor is awarded to those students who may not walk away winners but continue to give their best year in and year out. This week Images/Imagenes digs into its archives to relive the life and legacy of Rizo.

LATINOS IN FILM, TV & BROADWAY

From West Side Story to The Lion King, Latinos opened doors on Broadway and in television and Hollywood movies. Join Images/Imagenes on a walk of fame that features Latino legends, super stars and rising young talent. This episode explores the connection between the roles of Latino actors and the rise of Hispanic performers in the industry.

FLAMENCO: THE ESSENCE OF DANCE & DRAMA
Thursday, December 15, at 6:30 pm; rebroadcast Sunday, December 18, at 8 am

The passion of the Spanish gypsy flamenco comes to life in a powerful musical production by the
Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre. Featured in the production are sensational dancers Lisa Botalico, Chavela, Giselle Revollar, Ricki Santiago and Peter Suarez. Presented by Teatro Si at Kean University, Flamenco demonstrates dance and drama at its very best.

LATIN WOMEN IN MUSIC
Thursday, December 22, at 6:30 pm; rebroadcast Sunday, December 25, at 8 am

This edition of Images/Imagenes takes a look at some of the most outstanding female vocalists who have appeared on the program over the last 33 years. Featured stars include: Marinez Petingi, Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, Lucesita Benitez, Lisa Lisa and Ivy Queen.

LA BOMBA
Thursday, December 29, at 6:30 pm; rebroadcast Sunday, January 1, at 8 am

La Bomba tells the story of the birth, history and tradition of Puerto Rico's most famous rhythm. One of the western hemisphere's oldest dance forms, la bomba comes to life in a television special that features the number one family of dance, Los Cepedas, and New Jersey 's very own dance troupe, Segunda Quimbamba.
