Another View: Headlines and Race
On NJN Public Television
Wednesdays at 6:30 pm; rebroadcast Saturdays at 9 am
STATEWIDE – In newsrooms across the country, minority faces are decidedly absent. Another View: Headlines and Race goes behind the scenes to examine how the lack of minorities in newsrooms affects journalistic quality. While African-Americans are gaining some influence, striking problems still persist. An esteemed panel of guests who has climbed the ranks in television and newspaper outlets discusses the absence of minorities in newsrooms, the battles each member has fought and how media outlets are in a unique position to shape race relations around the world. Another View: Headlines and Race airs on NJN on Tuesday, November 15, at 6:30 pm, and is rebroadcast on Friday, November 18, at 11:30 pm.
Hosted by Candace Kelley, Another View: Headlines and Race takes a look at how the question of race determines what stories are covered and how that content influences America's viewpoint. Guests include Philadelphia Daily News editor, Michael Days; WB 17 news anchor, Mary Stoker Smith; Philadelphia Tribune managing editor, Irv Randolph; CN8 News editor and anchor, Art Fennell; The Star-Ledger of Newark business copy editor, Rachelle Christie; and Temple University journalism professor, Karen Turner.
Linda L. Coles is the executive producer of Another View. Another View is web cast at njn.net and can be seen on NJN’s JerseyVision and on Time Warner Cable on channel 750 in New York. Closed-captioning is provided.
