Sunday, December 18 at 11:30 am; rebroadcast Thursday, December 22 at 11:30 pm
STATEWIDE – This month, NJN’s Congress Watch welcomes Democratic Senator-Designate Robert Menendez of Hoboken. The program airs on Sunday, December 18, at 11:30 am and is rebroadcast on Thursday, December 22, at 11:30 pm. Congress Watch, NJN’s exclusive public affairs interview series, features comprehensive, in-depth interviews with members of Congress from New Jersey. The state’s thirteen members of the US House of Representatives, along with its two US senators are given the opportunity to share their insights on the major issues facing the nation. New Jersey's newly appointed U.S. senator sits down with NJN's State House correspondent Jim Hooker for a half-hour discussion on being tapped to fill out Senator Jon Corzine's unexpired term, and becoming the state's first Hispanic sent to the US Senate. Congress Watch is produced by NJN’s award-winning news and public affairs team and is sponsored by PSE&G.
NJN’s Images/Imagenes also looks at New Jersey’s first Hispanic senator in Profile of a Senator: The Robert Menendez Story on Thursday, January 12, at 6:30 pm with a rebroadcast Sunday, January 15, at 8 am. “It’s Menendez for the US Senate” proclaimed the front page of the Star-Ledger. After weeks of speculation, Congressman Robert Menendez was selected by Governor-elect Jon Corzine as his replacement on the coveted seat of the US Senate. Have Hispanics finally become a driving political force? Who is Robert Menendez and why are Latinos across the nation celebrating his appointment? Join Images/Imagenes in this television special about the man, his dream and his accomplishments. Images/Imagenes is produced by NJN’s award-winning producer Willie Sanchez.
Both programs are web streamed and archived on the NJN web site at njn.net and can be seen on cable stations throughout New Jersey, on NJN’s JerseyVision and on Time Warner Cable on channel 750 in New York.
