Peace, War, and Reconciliation: A Talk by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama

STATEWIDE – NJN proudly presents a Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, production Peace, War, and Reconciliation, a Talk by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama on Sunday, January, 1, at noon. Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, an internationally respected advocate of peace, delivered the public lecture Peace, War and Reconciliation before more than 36,000 people at Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, on Sunday, September 25, as the 25th Mason Welch Gross lecturer.
The Dalai Lama has captured the attention of leaders across the globe with his quest for peace and religious understanding. Traveling extensively, he keeps the issues of fundamental human rights and democratic freedom at the forefront of his message. Winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent efforts in resolving the conflicts between Tibet and the Chinese government, the Dalai Lama was praised by the Nobel Committee, which noted: “He has advocated peaceful solutions based upon tolerance and mutual respect in order to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of his people.”
“We are proud to join with our partners at NJN in bringing you his holiness the Dalai Lama and his lecture on peace, war and reconciliation,” says Rutgers’ President Richard McCormick in a special introduction to the broadcast.
