Lynn Kosek Walker,
NJN Producer,
Wins National Cine Golden Eagle Award and
Is Nominated for Two New York Emmys
STATEWIDE
- NJN Public Television and Radio is pleased to announce that
producer Lynn Kosek Walker is the recipient of a national
CINE Golden Eagle Award and two New York Emmy Award nominations
for writing and producing The Race for Open Space.
This one-hour documentary, narrated by Good Morning America's
Charles Gibson, examines the effects of sprawl on the environment
and the importance of preserving open space. The show will
air on PBS stations nationally beginning this April.
The CINE Awards
recognizes excellence in documentary and other informational
film and video production. Past CINE Award recipients have
included Steven Spielberg and George Lucas as well as Charles
Guggenheim and Frederick Wiseman. The awards will be presented
at a ceremony on April 22 in Washington, DC.
The New York Chapter
of the National Television Academy announces the Emmy Award
winners on March 28 in New York City. The Race for Open
Space, which Walker produced and wrote, was nominated
in the category of Environmental Programming. She was also
nominated for individual achievement as a writer in the Documentary
category for the program.
Lynn Kosek Walker
has worked in video production for more than 20 years: at
NJN Public Television, the ABC affiliate WPVI-TV6 in Philadelphia,
and The New York Times Cable Company. She is a three-time
Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award winner and has received national awards
for producing, writing and editing. Walker has produced numerous
documentaries and specials for NJN including Reflections of
War, Pine Barrens Journey and Gardens Great & Small. She
was the series producer for the travel magazine program Discover
New Jersey; a staff producer for the arts magazine show, State
of the Arts; and an associate producer on the NJN News documentary
Throwaway Pets hosted by Betty White.
Walker graduated
cum laude from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, with a bachelor's
degree in journalism/mass media. She also has an associate's
degree in communications from Burlington County College. As
a college student, she helped to form a nonprofit organization
called the Whitesbog Preservation Trust, dedicated to preserving
the historic village of Whitesbog. Walker received a grant
from The Burlington County Cultural and Heritage Commission
to produce her first documentary Whitesbog: A Century of Innovation.
She lives in Eastampton, New Jersey, with her husband and
two children.
In addition to Walker, other NJN staff who received New York
Emmy Award nominations for The Race for Open Space
are Janice Selinger, Executive Producer; Dari Mandell, Associate
Producer; and Sia Nyorkor, Associate Producer. The CINE Golden
Eagle Award acknowledges the entire production team along
with Steve Oleszek, Graphic Artist, and Tim Hufnell, Editor.
