NJN
Executive Producer Jeff Friedman Nominated for Two New York
Emmys
STATEWIDE
- NJN Public Television and Radio is pleased to announce that
Jeff Friedman has received two New York Emmy Award nominations
for his role as executive producer for Due Process:
Mandatory Sentencing and Due Process: Under
God . Due Process is a weekly half-hour
series that looks at contemporary legal issues through discussions
by attorneys and experts. Mandatory Sentencing examined
the debate on fixed sentencing. It featured an exclusive interview
with Bobby Cumber, who was sentenced as co-conspirator in
the Robert Marshall murder-for-hire trial and released 17
years later. Under God explored the controversy regarding
striking "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. It focused
on a Warren County woman who has campaigned to keep those
words in the Pledge. Mandatory Sentencing was nominated
in the category of Crime Programming and Under God
in the category of Religious Programming. The New York Chapter
of the National Television Academy announces the Emmy Award
winners on March 28 in New York City . Friedman is the station
manager on NJN's Newark Studios and executive producer at

and a CEBA statue. The American Heart Association has twice
recognized Friedman with awards for Excellence in Cardiovascular
Reporting, and he has been recognized by the Chicago International
Film Festival and The Society of Professional Journalists.
