NJN Public Television & Radio Covers
the Democratic and Republican National Conventions

STATEWIDE – NJN Public Television & Radio will provide live coverage of the upcoming Democratic National Convention 2004 at the Fleet Center in Boston from July 26 through July 29 and the Republican National Convention 2004 at Madison Square Garden in New York City from August 30 through September 2. NJN News will begin live coverage from the Democratic National Convention every night from July 26 through July 29 at 5:30 pm on Channel 13, and at 6 pm , 7:30 pm and 11 pm on NJN. NJN radio will broadcast NJN News at 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm ; and then will air NPR coverage. NJN News will be web streamed at njn.net.

NJN News anchor Kent Manahan, senior political correspondent Michael Aron and statehouse correspondent Jim Hooker will cover both conventions. Stories will include profiles of the New Jersey delegates, the missions of the state’s delegations, the high level of security plus live and taped conversations with key political leaders including Governor James E. McGreevey, Senator Jon Corzine, Senator Frank Lautenberg, congressional members, state legislators and other delegates. NJN News will highlight national leaders as they address the convention. Every evening at 11 pm , Democrat Rick Thigpen and Republican Roger Bodman will offer commentary live on NJN News.

On Aug 1, NJN's On the Record look back at the week that was with highlights from the Democratic Convention. On Sept 5, On the Record will highlight the Republican Convention.
