Special Television Taping of
Get Down Tonight – The Best of 70s Disco and Dance Music
At Convention Hall in Asbury Park
STATEWIDE – Disco is back with a live television taping on August 17 at 7 pm at historic Convention Hall in Asbury Park , New Jersey . My Music: Get Down Tonight – the Best of 70s Disco and Dance Music, a special production by TJ L Productions and NJN, will air on NJN Public Television this fall.
This week, NJN viewers will be offered a special opportunity to reserve tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime television taping in Asbury Park by tuning into encore performances of My Music: Superstars of Seventies Soul Live taped at Atlantic City’s Borgata this past winter. Superstars will be broadcast on Friday, July 30 at 8 pm ; Saturday, July 31 at 9:30 am , 2 pm , 9 pm and 12 am ; and Sunday, August 1 at 3 pm and 10 pm .
Disco brings back memories of Donna Summer, The Village People, Gloria Gaynor, the Bee Gees, Halston dresses and shiny shirts, platform shoes, parties and sequins, and of course the Disco Ball. If you loved the music and eclectic lifestyle of the Disco era and would love an opportunity to reminisce, you will want to be part of a live audience at the taping of this program, whether you want to sit and listen to the music or get up and disco. Scheduled performers (confirmed at this time – subject to change) are as follows:

Additional celebrity guest stars for Get Down Tonight will be announced only on NJN beginning July 30 at 8 pm with the broadcast of My Music: Superstars of Seventies Soul Live. On Superstars, Patti LaBelle headlines an outstanding musical program that includes many of the legendary groups of classic soul such as The Commodores, Heatwave, Yvonne Elliman, The Stylistics, The Manhattans, Eugene Record reuniting with the Chi-Lites, McFadden and Whitehead, and Debbie and Joni Sledge of Sister Sledge among others.
