Scott A. Kobler Elected Chair of
New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority

Statewide – At the annual meeting of the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority in Trenton , July 20, 2004 , Scott A. Kobler, Esq., was elected Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the NJPBA. The other officers elected were Steven C. Fiske, M.D., as First Vice Chair; Liz Thomas as Second Vice Chair; and Gale Grossman as Treasurer. Their names were presented to the full Board by the NJPBA Nominating Committee. Kobler has been a Commissioner of the NJPBA from 1991 through 1998, and again since 2002. Previously he served as Chair from 1992 through 1994. The NJPBA is the operating authority of New Jersey Network.

Scott A. Kobler, Esq., is a Trustee and Secretary of the NJN Foundation, a Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and a Fellow of Leadership New Jersey (The Partnership for New Jersey ). Kobler is a partner and member of the Executive Committee of McCarter & English, New Jersey 's oldest and largest law firm. Founded 160 years ago, McCarter & English is a full-service law firm with approximately 325 attorneys. Kobler practices in the area of public finance, specializing in the financing of substantial health care and housing institutions.

Steven C. Fiske, M.D., First Vice Chair, was appointed to the NJPBA Board of Commissioners in 1996. He serves as Chair of the NJPBA Programming Committee, as NJN converts to digital TV broadcasting. Dr. Fiske is a physician with North Jersey Gastroenterology Associates in West Orange , Kearny and Secaucus. In addition to his medical practice, he has been an associate professor of medicine, Seton Hall University School of Graduate Medical Education since 1987, and assistant clinical professor of medicine, New Jersey Medical School , UMDNJ, Newark since 1978. An editor of New Jersey Medicine, Dr. Fiske is past president of the NJ Gastroenterological Society and the NJ GI Endoscopy Society.

Liz Thomas, Second Vice Chair, has served on the NJPBA Board of Commissioners for 10 years. She is CEO of Thomas/Boyd Communications, an agency she founded in September 1998. Prior to starting Thomas/Boyd Communications, she served as president of Winning Strategies Public Relations. Thomas serves on the Board of Directors of Family Service and the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey.

Gale Grossman, Treasurer, has served on the NJPBA Board of Commissioners since 2002. She is a retired health care professional, who for the past nine years has dedicated her time to family and community service. She is a Trustee on the Board of the Monmouth Museum and serves on the Executive Committee of the Monmouth County Cancer Ball as facilitator and Membership Chair. She is also involved with the Two River Antiques Show and Garden Tour, which raises the necessary funds to provide the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medial Center with state-of-the-art technology.
