A New Season of Images/Imagenes
on NJN Public Television
Thursdays at 6:30 pm; rebroadcast Sundays at 8 am
STATEWIDE – For over three decades, Images/Imagenes has examined the critical issues of New Jersey ’s Hispanic population. Now entering its 32 nd season, Images/Imagenes is working on a line-up of informational programs that deal with voting and elections, civil rights, job success and consumer affairs as well as looking at dance and music . Images/Imagenes can be seen on Thursdays at 6:30 pm and Sundays at 8 am , and is web streamed and archived at www.njn.net. THE ELECTION PROCESS
Thursday, September 30, at 6:30 pm ; rebroadcast on Sunday, October 3, at 8 am
The Division of Elections in the NJ Department of Law and Public Safety has worked steadily to educate the public about the election process. Unfortunately many Hispanics are not taking full advantage of their constitutional right to vote. The aim of this program is to demonstrate how the Division of Elections works, how it protects a citizen’s rights, and how misinformation can scare away potential voters.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS
Thursday, October 7, at 6:30 pm ; rebroadcast on Sunday, October 10, at 8 am
Dress for Success documents the achievements of economically disadvantaged women who are learning the skills necessary to obtain jobs and look presentable for interviews.
JOB LITERACY
Thursday, October 14, at 6:30 pm ; rebroadcast on Sunday, October 17, at 8 am
Job Literacy is an in-depth awareness program focusing on educating Latinos about their rights in the workplace. With the help of the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the program will provide informational guidelines to viewers, summarizing the basics of job etiquette; and instructions on how to ask for a promotion, dress for work, deal with harassment, obtain compensation for injuries, address social security issues and much more.
CIVIL RIGHTS
Thursday, October 21, at 6:30 pm ; rebroadcast on Sunday, October 24, at 8 am
The civil rights of Hispanics are frequently abused yet such abuse often goes unreported. Living in silence has forced many Hispanics into isolation. Working with the NJ Commission on Civil Rights in the NJ Department of Law and Public Safety, the program offers advice to Hispanics on how to come out of the shadow of fear and understand their rights as citizens of New Jersey .
CONSUMER AWARENESS
Thursday, October 28, at 6:30 pm; rebroadcast on Sunday, October 31, at 8 am
The Division on Consumer Affairs within the NJ Department of Law and Public Safety demonstrates the tricks used by con-artists in car sales, phone sales, credit card scams and identity theft. The program also addresses what happens when people innocently make the mistake of giving out personal information.
THE ROAD TO STARDOM

at 8 am
With supportive votes from the Caribbean , the US and South America , this program returns with three new contestants trying to win votes from around the world with songs in Spanish and English.
CELEBRATING THE HOLIDAYS
Thursday, December 23, at 6:30 pm; rebroadcast on Sunday, December 26, at 8 am
This annual children’s special features songs and dances from past and present winners of the NJN Hispanic Youth Showcase. Celebrating the Holidays will also announce the winner of our Road to Stardom competition.
Also this season, Images/Imagenes will follow up on the success of the Flamenco special and continue to document the history of Latino music and dance. The children’s programs continue with the highly regarded NJN Hispanic Youth Showcase in its 19 th year. This spring, Images/Imagenes turns to health programs that tackle the issues of Latino children with AIDS, the need for Latino parents to vaccinate their children and the work of Latino agencies battling the problem of health and hunger among seniors.
