A Burt Wolf Marathon on NJN
Saturday, August 9, 5 pm to 8 pm
STATEWIDE
- On Saturday, August 9, from 5 pm to 8 pm, Burt Wolf
will be live on NJN Public Television during a special broadcast
of five of his favorite programs from the WHAT WE EAT
& THE VOYAGES OF COLUMBUS series. The following
programs will be presented:
The Story
of Chili Peppers
How the Potato Changed the World
The Story of Corn
African Foods in American
The Story of Coffee
In the series,
Burt Wolf travels through the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe,
Asia and the United States to commemorate the 500th anniversary
of an era that sowed the most important seeds of change. With
the help of some of the world's leading experts, he uncovers
how the migrations of people, plants and animals that started
between 1492 and 1502 continue to impact the culture, economics
and the diet of the world today. ConAgra Foods, Inc. is the
national underwriter of the WHAT WE EAT & THE VOYAGES
OF COLUMBUS series.
Burt Wolf is the host and author of ten internationally syndicated
television series that focus on food, travel, and cultural
history. His programs include Travels and Traditions,
Local Flavors, Gatherings and Celebrations
and What We Eat. He is regularly featured on
NJN Public Television and his programs air on public television
stations across the country and have been syndicated worldwide.
He was the first
recipient of the James Beard Foundation Award for the Best
Television Food Journalism and has been nominated for two
CableAce Awards and a national Emmy in connection with cultural
history. His reports are videotaped entirely on location throughout
the world.

Watch Burt Wolf this fall on NJN when his new series, TASTE
OF FREEDOM, airs. TASTE OF FREEDOM looks
at the history, folklore and foods that are a part of America's
holidays and how they have been altered by American's political,
commercial and religious freedoms. Special attention is given
to ethnic groups and how they have brought their own traditions
to these holidays. The program was produced on location in
the United States, Europe, Mexico and Asia, and is underwritten
by ConAgra Foods.
