Patricia A. Costante
First Vice Chair
Patricia A. Costante, First Vice Chair of the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority was appointed to the NJPBA Board of Commissioners by Governor Richard J. Codey with the approval of the New Jersey Senate in January, 2006.
Ms. Costante currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MDAdvantage Insurance Company of New Jersey. Ms. Costante led the formation of MDAdvantage during a time when the medical professional liability insurance market in New Jersey was considered in crisis by state policymakers. The company has grown to be one of the leading providers of medical professional liability insurance in New Jersey insuring more than 3,200 physicians. MDAdvantage has approximately $230 million in assets and direct written premiums of $98 million. MDAdvantage provides a full-range of services and associated tools to help physicians reduce risk exposure in their practice and improve the quality of patient care and the art of healing.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Costante was employed by The MIIX Group, Inc., where she held numerous management positions between 1996 and 2002. Her final position was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, where she successfully implemented a plan to preserve shareholder value, protect physician insureds, and formulated a business plan to capitalize a new company.
Ms. Costante’s professional career has been spent primarily within the healthcare field. She was the founding partner of Costante Associates, Inc., a regional consulting and management firm, and served as the managing partner of Altila Rehabilitation, Inc., a national consulting firm. In both of these roles, she specialized in strategic planning, business development, market feasibility analyses and contract management for health care providers.
In addition to her MBA degree that she earned at New York University’s Stern School of Business, she also holds a Post Master Certificate in Administration from Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey, and has achieved the status of “Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives” (FACHE), the highest achievement in that field. She is also a diplomate of the American Association of Healthcare Consultants and a Certified Healthcare Consultant. She is a frequent author and lecturer on medical professional liability issues, healthcare compliance, clinical practice and program development.
Ms. Costante currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, an organization serving more than 100,000 New Jersey residents annually, and with a budget of more than $35 million. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees for five years, and has dedicated herself to their mission, to provide services to those in need, to advocate on their behalf, and to strengthen their communities.
